Overview of the Measurement Feature

Image-Pro provides tools for measuring features in images.  For example, suppose you want to know the distance between two points in an image.  Using the Measurement tools, you can simply draw a line between the two points and acquire an instant distance measurement.

Measurement operations in Image-Pro are performed in terms of image pixel positions. For example, the length of a line feature is determined by the number of pixels along the line and the area of a closed feature (such as a polygon or circle) is determined by the number of pixels within that feature.

Pixel-level measurements, however, can be converted to more meaningful units (such as inches or millimeters) using spatial calibrations.  Refer to the section Using Spatial Calibrations for more information.
